SAP Flight Training

Each year, several SAP cadets are awarded Flight Scholarships by the MMI Foundation. These scholarships assist cadets with the cost of pursuing a private pilot license through the MMI Flight Training program local Vaiden Field. Read below to find out more about their aviation studies:

CHRISTOPHER BEASLEY, North Charleston, SC

Falcon Scholar, Flying Tigers Club

“Aviation is not only in my heart, it is in my blood,” he writes. “My father and his father before him were both pilots in the U.S. Air Force, serving collectively in WWII, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom and numerous missions in between. …Now the chance has been offered to me to enter into one of the most prestigious universities in the nation, and I do not plan on entering unprepared. With a private pilot license, many new opportunities will be automatically afforded to me in regards to aviation.”

FORREST SCHAFFER, Birmingham, AL

Falcon Scholar, Civil Air Patrol, Private Glider License, Flying Tigers Club, President's List, Band Company, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, Ranger Challenge Team, Normandy Society

"MMI has provided for me many opportunities to pursue the things that I am passionate about and prepare for a future of service. The Flying Tigers training program is one opportunity that allows me to achieve both. Being able to pursue my love for aviation while in school has been very rewarding for me. However, what I find even more rewarding is being able to gain flight experience before I enter into a career-long service in aviation."

JACOB BALDWIN, Houston, AL

Dean's List, Falcon Scholar, Flying Tigers Club

“My dream is to fly aircraft for the United States Air Force,” he writes. “Flying for the military and possibly the civilian world afterwards is the career path that I have chosen. It is not an easy task, but the flight training I am receiving now will significantly increase my chances of this dream becoming a reality.”

KENT GREER, Amherst NY

Falcon Scholar, Dean's List, Cadet Sergeant, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society

“Ever since I was in sixth grade, I have wanted to fly. This passion for flight has evolved into my desire to become a fighter pilot in the United States Air Force,” he writes. “Along with this passion, I have also dreamed of attending and graduating from the United States Air Force Academy. Above all other activities, I believe that gaining a private pilot license will make the biggest difference in obtaining my dream.”
