Women's Tennis Program Overview
Dear Prospective Tennis Player:
I invite you to take a look at Marion Military Institute’s tennis and academic programs—and to come aboard (and don’t be afraid!) and participate in a great athletic and academic experience at a premier academic institution and the oldest military junior college in the nation. Why Marion Military Institute? Here are a few reasons why you should join us:
Reason Number 1: You will receive a topnotch, quality education.
Marion Military Institute strives to give each student a personalized education, and succeeds in great measure due to its tremendous and talented faculty. At MMI, you can embark on any number of excellent programs: Early Commissioning Program (ECP), General Bruce K. Holloway Service Academy Program (SAP), Air Force ROTC (AFROTC), Marine Corps Platoon Leaders Course (PLC), and Leadership Education Program (LEP).
Reason Number 2: You will receive a superior credential that will hold you in good stead for the rest of your life.
Marion Military Institute confers two-year degrees (the Associate in Arts Degree or the Associate in Science Degree) upon its graduates. These degrees comprise between 64-72 transferable credits to four-year institutions of higher learning. Just having a degree from a military college can open up many doors for you in your future career(s) and life endeavors.
Reason Number 3: You will receive invaluable leadership training.
All organizations are looking for strong, committed leaders. Where else but at Marion Military Institute can you get leadership skills that are second to none?
Reason Number 4: You will be able to focus your studies in an academic concentration.
Marion Military Institute provides the following academic concentrations for its students: Elementary Education, English, History, Leadership, Natural Science, Pre-Engineering, Pre-Nursing, Psychology, and Sociology.
Reason Number 5: You will be able to get in the best shape of your life.
At Marion Military Institute, your fitness is almost guaranteed. Besides playing tennis, you will gain extraordinary health benefits from running and calisthenics. In addition, Marion Military Institute has a state-of-the-art fitness facility that its students use on a daily basis. Marion Military Institute also has a fine pool, a new track, and a golf course. If you like a life of exercise and healthy living, you will love Marion Military Institute.
Reason Number 6: You will not be in debt after your two years at Marion Military Institute.
You probably have heard horror stories about students who have accumulated thousands upon thousands of dollars’ worth of debt. That is not the case at Marion Military Institute. Tennis scholarships pay for all tuition (in-state and out-of-state), fees, and books for the year. Your financial obligation with a tennis scholarship will be a one-time uniform fee of $1,850 and a room-and-board (food) fee of $4,000 for the first year. Fees for the second year are a fairly meager $4,000 for room and board. In addition, you will receive approximately two-thirds of your first-year uniform fee back if you complete a physical skills test which comprises running, sit-ups, and pushups. Every tennis player has passed that test and has received a substantial reimbursement check to put toward his or her second year of college education at Marion Military Institute. And one more great point: you might be eligible for additional financial aid that could help defray costs even more!
Reason Number 7: You will succeed at Marion Military Institute and graduate with an Associate Degree in Arts or Science.
Marion Military Institute provides a foolproof plan for academic success: classroom attendance and evening study-hall hours are required. By attending all of your classes and studying for at least two hours in the evenings, your first two years of college are almost guaranteed to be an unparalleled success. Factor in a strong and caring faculty and access to tutoring services and you are well on your way to landing on the Dean’s List or President’s List for superior academic performance.
Reason Number 8: You will incur no military obligation—unless, of course, you choose to enter a program specifically geared toward a military career, like the Service Academy Program or the Early Commissioning Program.
Marion Military Institute’s Leadership Education Program (LEP) is designed for students who have no military aspirations whatsoever. If you want to learn how to be a leader and how to manage your time wisely, the Leadership Education Program will put you on the fast track to learning these valuable skills—and with no military obligation!
Reason Number 9: You will be able to participate and compete at a high level in the sport that you love: tennis!
