Each year, the MMI Alumni Brigade honors MMI teachers and staff who have made a difference in their lives. During Alumni Weekend 2008, Mary Rankin Brooks and Marshall S. Knudsen were honored at the Alumni Brigade Banquet on Saturday, April 12 at the Selma Country Club.
Mary Rankin Brooks (MMI class of ’76) is a faculty member who has been teaching English at her alma mater since 1994. At MMI, she has advised the student newspaper, chaired the MMI Faculty Senate and currently coordinates the cadets’ participation in Alabama Shakespeare Festival’s School Fest.
Marshall S. Knudsen taught at MMI for 24 years (1970-92, 97-99), serving as cross-country coach for 10 of those years. He was named AISA State Teacher of the Year in 1995. He has been a part of the faculty at Morgan Academy in Selma, Ala. since 1999 and is presently teaching English, creative writing and French.
